URGENT PETITION TO INTERNATIONAL OLYMPIC COMMITTEE

Dear Thomas Bach,

It has been 45 years since 11 Israel athletes and a German police officer were brutally murdered by Palestinian terrorists at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich. It is long past time for these innocent victims to be recognized and remembered on the global stage with a moment of silence at the Summer Games. I urge the IOC to take this important step at the upcoming 2020 Summer Olympics.

By officially instituting a moment of silence in their memory, the IOC will send an urgently needed message to the world that we must all stand together against terror and violence.

Such a decision is very much in keeping with the Olympic value of respect for universal fundamental ethical principles. The time has come for the IOC to do what is right, moral and just by allowing a moment of silence for Munich’s fallen athletes.
